CERASO
is a charming town located in the hills, which is particularly pleasant to visit during the summer due to its cool and temperate climate. Its historic centre, of ancient origin, once served as a junction between the salt routes leading to the Vallo di Diano and the areas of Novi, Civitella and Gioi. The surrounding forests were famous for their valuable wood, used in the construction of the Velina fleet's ships. Ceraso was also known for the fertility of its soils, rich in limestone, silica and clay, which favoured the cultivation of vineyards and olive groves, producing high quality wines, including the famous vinaccia, also appreciated in Naples. Today, the area continues to be renowned for the cultivation of olive trees, vines, annurche apples and chestnuts.
ATTRACTIONS
- Piazza S. Silvestro: this square takes its name from the 17th-century church dedicated to San Silvestro, built by the Lancillotti family in their garden,
but with the main entrance right from the square.
The chapel, which housed a valuable bust of
St Silvester, some paintings and a magnificent
organ, was demolished in the 1920s to improve access to the village.
- Via Roma: one of the main streets of the village, the vital heart of the locality.

EVENTS
- Festival of ancient grain: its eighth edition will be held on 22 June at La Petrosa Farm. During the event, participants will be able to take part in workshops, tastings and meetings, all dedicated to the rediscovery of traditions linked to ancient grains and the genuine flavours of the territory.
- Blessing of wheat in San Biase di Ceraso: on the feast of Saint Mary, a procession with the 'cente' is celebrated, a traditional rite of the Confraternities of Our Lady of Constantinople, during which wheat is blessed.
- Bread Festival: an event celebrating the tradition of bread, with festivities and tastings dedicated to this local delicacy.
